11 Cold Coffee Recipes You Need To Try Right Away

May 06, 2025

Coffee is more than just a drink. It’s a ritual for people like me, or a quick pick-me-up drink between meetings for others. It is the energy boost everyone needs!

However, as we welcome summer, we often start to worry about the summer-time laziness creeping in. And let’s be honest - when the heat hits, those hot cups of coffee suddenly feel impossible. But it’s still the caffeine kick that keeps our energy up and helps us stay active throughout the day.

But don’t worry, there’s always an alternative, which, in this case, is COLD COFFEE! It’s refreshing, energizing, and the perfect way to stay cool and energized in this scorching summer heat.

Here are 11 refreshing cold coffee recipes to keep you cool all summer long:

1. Classic Cold Coffee:

If you're craving a refreshing and creamy caffeine fix, a cup of classic cold coffee is your best friend. It is simple and customizable! All you need is a cup of cold milk, coffee, a blender (or not), and either sugar or any other sweetener.

Begin by preparing your coffee base. If you're using brewed coffee, make sure it's completely cooled before blending. If you're using instant coffee, add it directly to the blender or your coffee mug. Combine the coffee, sugar, and 2–3 tablespoons of milk with the ice cubes and blend until the mixture is smooth.

Pour in the remaining cold milk and mix again to blend everything completely. And.. done! Your classic cold coffee is ready! The best part? You can also add a scoop of vanilla ice-cream or vanilla essence for added taste.

2. Iced Espresso:

Working late like your favourite singer? Well, this easy cold espresso recipe will help you get through the night. You’ll need 1 or 2 shots of freshly brewed espresso (depending on your caffeine preference), 1/2 to 1 cup of cold water or milk (optional), ice cubes, and sugar or sweetener to taste.

An espresso machine works best, but as mentioned above, we always have alternatives. So, you can also use a Moka pot, an AeroPress, or a strong coffee concentrate from a capsule machine for the espresso shots. Then pull 1–2 shots directly into a heat-resistant glass or cup.

Next, sweeten your espresso while it’s still hot. Stir in your preferred amount of sugar or flavored syrup. If you prefer your espresso unsweetened and intense, you can skip this step. Now fill your favourite coffee cup with a lot of ice, cause why not, and pour in the espresso!

You can also add flavor enhancers like vanilla syrup, caramel, or a splash of almond or oat milk if you prefer a twist.

It has the same initial steps as the classic cold coffee, however, the only addition is that you need to add Nutella before mixing everything in the blender. There is no right portion to adding Nutella, just keep in mind the kind of sweetness your friends would like.

A banana coffee smoothie is a deliciously energizing option for busy mornings, offering both nutrition and your daily caffeine fix in one easy blend.

You’ll need 1 ripe banana, ½ to 1 cup of cooled brewed coffee or 1–2 shots of espresso, ½ cup of milk (dairy or plant-based), 1 tablespoon of peanut or almond butter, ½ teaspoon of vanilla extract, and a handful of ice cubes.

If you like it sweeter, add 1–2 tsp of honey, maple syrup, or even a pitted date. For an added health boost, consider including a tablespoon of oats, chia seeds, or a scoop of protein powder.

Begin by combining all the ingredients in a blender. Blend on high until the smoothie is creamy and smooth. Pour into a glass and enjoy this rich, frothy drink that fuels your day.

Pour the smoothie into a glass or an insulated travel tumbler and enjoy immediately. Top it off with a sprinkle of cinnamon, cocoa powder, or granola.

5. Dalgona Iced Coffee:

Just in case you forgot the 2020 dalgona coffee trend, we are here to remind you again!

To make this, mix 2 tbsp each of instant coffee, sugar, and hot water in a bowl. Whip with a whisk or electric mixer until thick and frothy with stiff peaks.

6. Orange Zest Iced Coffee:

If you’re craving something beyond the coffee flavour, this drink is the best alternative. Be it in the morning, afternoon, or evening, it is the best match to keep you fresh.

Take some orange peel and grind it in a mixer with some added water to make the juice. Next, fill a coffee glass with ice cubes and strain the coffee into it, and then add it to your cold-brewed coffee. For some added citrus infusion, sprinkle some orange zest to top it off and let it steep for 5 to 10 minutes and you are good to go!

7. Matcha Cold Coffee:

It is the perfect recipe to make your coffee healthier. Start by whisking 1 tsp of matcha powder with 2 tbsp of hot water until smooth and frothy.

Separately, prepare ½  cup of strong brewed coffee and let it cool. In a glass, add ice cubes, pour in the matcha, then add ½  cup of cold milk and the cooled coffee. Sweeten with honey or maple syrup if desired. Stir gently and enjoy this creamy, energizing twist on iced coffee.

8. Iced Maple Cinnamon Latte:

For warm days when you yearn for the flavours of a cafe, an iced maple cinnamon latte is the ideal beverage. It is cosy and somewhat sweet.

Start by brewing ½ cup of strong coffee or espresso and setting it aside to cool completely. While the coffee is cooling, take a shaker or mixing glass and add ¾ cup of cold milk.

Next, stir in 1 tbsp of pure maple syrup and ¼ tsp of ground cinnamon to give the drink a naturally sweet and warm flavor. Once the coffee has cooled, add it to the milk mixture along with ice cubes.

Shake or stir everything together until it’s well mixed and slightly frothy. Pour the finished latte into a tall glass, and top it off with a sprinkle of cinnamon for extra aroma and flair.

9. Hazelnut Cold Coffee:

If you're in the mood for a cold coffee that’s rich, nutty, and a little indulgent, hazelnut cold coffee is a must-try.

Gather 1 cup of chilled milk, 2 teaspoons of instant coffee, 2–3 teaspoons of hazelnut syrup (adjust to taste), 1–2 teaspoons of sugar or sweetener (optional), and a handful of ice cubes. For added richness, consider including a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a splash of cream.

Begin by dissolving the coffee and sugar in 2 tablespoons of warm water. Once it cools, blend it with chilled milk, hazelnut syrup, and ice until smooth and frothy. If you’re using brewed coffee, ensure it’s cooled beforehand.

Pour into glass coffee cups to get a nice presentation of your perfect coffee!

10. Coconut Mocha Iced Coffee:

The rich depth of cocoa and the creamy smoothness of coconut milk combine to provide a delectably tropical and chocolatey twist on your typical iced coffee.

Start by brewing 1 cup of strong coffee and letting it cool, or use cold brew. In a shaker or glass, mix the coffee with ½ cup of coconut milk, canned for a rich texture or carton for a lighter feel.

Add 1 tbsp of chocolate syrup and 1–2 tsp of sugar or maple syrup for added sweetness. Toss in some ice cubes and stir or shake until well chilled. Pour into a cup and, if desired, top with whipped cream, a drizzle of chocolate syrup, or toasted coconut for a tropical finish.

11. Chocolate Coffee Shake:

This beverage is a good alternative for days when you don’t want to go for a plain coffee shake.

To make it, blend 1 cup of chilled milk (dairy or plant-based), ½ cup of cold-brewed coffee, 2 scoops of chocolate ice cream, and 1 tbsp of chocolate syrup. Add a handful of ice cubes and blend until smooth and frothy. Pour the shake into a tall glass and top with whipped cream if desired.
