Pops of colour bode well for living space - this is where orbeez or water beads step in to contend as yet another simple yet charming plant display, combining simplicity with natural beauty. A water bead setup is also great for new plant parents who might forget to water their plants. They shrink in size when dry, requiring rehydration to plump up - serving as a tangible reminder to water your plant.

8. No-soil Grows

Although hydroponics have been around for a long time, they have made a recent resurgence in the realm of houseplant displays. Add a touch of interest and an uber-contemporary look to your mantlepiece or side table. It is important to use a glass jar so the branched-out roots are in view. • Reindeer moss
  • Air plants

Procedure:

  1. Place your tacks just a few inches apart along the sides of the frame of your wooden box.
  2. Take your twine and wrap it around the tacks in a desired pattern. Leave a bit of twine in the upper corners if you plan on hanging the piece.
  3. Add a piece of driftwood or rock and secure it in place underneath the twine.
  4. Fill the open spaces with the moss, and stick your air plants into the spaces between the twines.

P.S.: A light mist twice every week will keep the air plants thriving.

You can cut lengths of wool and form them into a tassel suspending the piece from a long bamboo stick. You can also repurpose an old ladder, lean it against the wall, and use it as a tiered shelving unit for your houseplants. The creative possibilities are endless when it comes to setting up a vertical garden, allowing you to improvise and tweak the arrangement to see what works best for your home.
