What is MDF?
Medium Density Fibrewood, more commonly known as MDF, is an engineered wood product made by breaking down hardwood or softwood residuals into wood fibers, combining them with wax and a resin binder, and forming panels by applying high temperature and pressure.
Are there any special care instructions for MDF?
Yes, however, while there are a few special care instructions that must be considered when caring for MDF products, they are relatively easy. These steps include:
1. Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the platter regularly. This helps to remove dust and debris without scratching the surface.
2. For any stains or spills, use a slightly damp cloth to gently wipe the surface. Ensure the cloth is not too wet to prevent water from seeping into the MDF.
3. If necessary, use a mild, non-abrasive cleaner. Avoid harsh chemicals, bleach, or abrasive pads, as these can damage the surface.
4. Always keep the platter dry. Avoid exposing it to water or high humidity, as MDF is prone to swelling and warping when it absorbs moisture.
